Student Work

The following projects were completed during my undergraduate study at Carnegie Mellon University.

WEAR, Spring Semester 2006

This book was a self-designed project for a semester long course that was themed around fashion. It presents some of the factors that influence our perceptions of other people. Several series of photographs were taken, each focused on one of three factors: person, place, or clothing. They are presented as a continous series of images, with each spread showing a different number of photographs in varying sizes to allow for different comparisons of the images. The cover is a reflective paper so you see yourself before looking inside.

Fear of Bugs Exhibit, Fall Semester 2005

A proposed traveling exhibit for the Carnegie Museum of Natural History was designed to increase awareness of the Invertebrate Zoology department. A series of six displays was created, each dispelling a fear commonly associated with invertebrates. The displays combined a tactile demonstration with a pair of informative panels. The visual language plays off of classic B-movies to emphasize the absurdity of these fears. Shown here is an example of one of the sections as viewed from the exterior and interior, and a view of all six backdrop designs.

Pittsburgh Port Authority: Bus Schedule Re-design, Spring Semester 2005

The redesign of the 61A–61B–69A bus schedule organizes the information in a way that is more accessible and user-friendly. It utilizes a z-fold to allow users to easily access information for one route at a time or all three routes. The new map highlights key stops and gives the user a sense of where routes overlap. The schedule is double sided, with each side representing a different direction. The direction is indicated on the front and back covers so the user knows which side to use.
